San Juan Man Sentenced for Sexual Abuse of 11-Year-Old Boy

Michael Roldan will receive sex offender status after incarceration

MINEOLA, N.Y. – Acting Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas announced that a San Juan man was sentenced to prison today for sexually abusing an 11-year-old boy in Levittown in 2012.

Michael Roldan, 42, was convicted in a bench trial last month of Sexual Abuse in the 1st Degree (a D violent felony) and Endangering the Welfare of a Child (an A misdemeanor). He was sentenced today to five years in prison and five years of post-release supervision by Acting Supreme Court Justice Teresa Corrigan. Roldan will be required to register as a sex offender when he is released from prison.

“This defendant committed a despicable crime, sexually abusing a young child, and today’s sentence and his future placement on the sex offender registry will ensure that he will be held accountable,” Acting DA Singas said. “I commend the members of my Special Victims Bureau who worked hard to indict this case and secure this conviction.”

Acting DA Singas said that Roldan, a flight attendant and resident of San Juan, Puerto Rico, subjected an 11-year-old boy to sexual contact on July 28 and 29 of 2012 at a home in Levittown where both he and the boy, to whom he is not related, were visiting.

The defendant had originally been arrested on November 15, 2012 and charged with the A misdemeanor crime of Sexual Abuse in the 2nd Degree. After further investigation by the Special Victims Bureau of the District Attorney’s Office, the charges were upgraded and an indictment was issued charging Roldan with more serious felony offenses.

Assistant District Attorney D.J. Rosenbaum of Acting DA Singas’ Special Victim’s Bureau is prosecuting the case. Roldan is represented by Samuel Rieff, Esq.
