Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano met with an adoptive family on Monday, July 25 at the Theodore Roosevelt Executive and Legislative Building in Mineola, to recognize two workers from the Department of Social Services (DSS) Adoption Unit who aided in the adoption. Caseworker Diana Faherty and Supervisor Tara Carlo of the DSS Adoption Unit were presented with citations from County Executive Mangano for their hard work and dedication.
“I’d like to thank Diana Faherty and Tara Carlo from our Department of Social Services for their outstanding efforts in helping in the Naprawa family’s adoption,” said County Executive Mangano. “The services provided by these women, and all of our staff in the Adoption Unit, is invaluable to the families they assist. We cannot thank them enough for their hard work.”
Melissa and Tomasz Naprawa were looking to adopt Jaxon, the special needs child of Melissa’s cousin, who was in foster care in Connecticut. Nassau County DSS was asked to do a home study on the Naprawa family and aid in the replacement of Jaxon to their home in Farmingdale. Through the perseverance and determination of Caseworker Diana Faherty and Supervisor Tara Carlo, Jaxon was placed with the Naprawa family in August of 2015, and his adoption was finalized in March of 2016. The Naprawa family reached out to County Executive Mangano, wishing for Diana and Tara to be recognized for all they have done for their family.
