[ARCHIVED] MANGANO WELCOMES THE DRIFTWOODS – A TRIBUTE TO THE BEACH BOYS - TO WANTAGH PARK

Wantagh, NY – Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano today announced that The Driftwoods – a Tribute to The Beach Boys – will perform at Wantagh Park on Sunday, July 31st at 6:00 p.m. Wantagh Park is located at 1 King Road in Wantagh, just south of Merrick Road. Admission is free.

About The Driftwoods:
The Driftwoods are the East Coast's original Beach Boys tribute band. Since the mid-'60s, their legendary vocal harmonies and rock n' roll rhythms have entertained legions of fans, from the casual listener to the veteran rock musician. Over the years, performances by The Driftwoods have earned them recording contracts, TV appearances, and studio vocal sessions. In addition, the band also performs as an opening act for well-known national artists. In 1965 the band opened for Gary Lewis & The Playboys, and in 1999 they were featured as the opening act for The Rascals. Today, The Driftwoods continue to bring you the sounds of their "Endless Summer" on the live stage. So grab your board, and catch "The Wave of a Lifetime" with Rhode Island's own Beach Boys tribute band, The Driftwoods!

About Wantagh Park:Consisting of 111 acres, Wantagh Park provides a waterfront location and numerous opportunities for recreation, along with seating areas that allow visitors to relax and enjoy the magnificent view. Residents can enjoy tennis courts, softball fields, a basketball court, a baseball field, a playground, a fishing pier, boat slips, a dog run, bocci and horseshoe courts and a game area for chess and checkers, a senior citizen gazebo and reserved picnic areas with barbeque equipment. There is also 1-mile and 2-mile walking paths that can also be used for bicycle riding and jogging. Additionally, families can enjoy an Olympic-sized main pool, a diving pool, a “kiddie” pool, training pool, an interactive water-play area and two waterslides (30 foot). The pool complex includes various conveniences, including lockers, showers, a concession stand, and lounge and deck chairs.
