Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano and the Nassau County Veterans Service Agency (VSA) honored our nations’ veterans and presented Distinguished Service Awards to five local veterans for their continued work in the community. Charles Boyd of Williston Park was presented with the Distinguished Veteran Service Award at the ceremony on Saturday, August 6th in Eisenhower Park.
Mr. Boyd is a Korean War Veteran that served in the United States Marine Corps, 1st Marine Division, from 1949-1952. He has been an active volunteer driver for the Nassau County VSA for over 25 years and has driven veterans to medical appointments at both the VA Northport Hospital and VA Clinics. Charlie regularly volunteers to help clothe and feed veterans in-need at VSA Stand Downs.
County Executive Mangano stated, “On behalf of Nassau County’s 1.3 million residents, I thank Charlie Boyd and all of our veterans for their service and dedication to our nation. We salute Charlie for his continued selflessness and volunteerism in working to serve veterans in need of assistance.”
