More than 2,000 Vehicles to Participate in LI’s Largest Car Show
Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano has announced that the 7th Annual “Cruise to the Show” Parade and Car Show will be held this Saturday, September 24th and Sunday, September 25th.
“Corvettes in Eisenhower Park,” an exclusive Corvette show will take place on Saturday, September 24th from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. in Eisenhower Park at Field 6 and 6A. Hundreds of Corvettes will be on display—from 1950s restored classics to today’s technologically advanced Stingrays, Lingenfelter special editions and official Indy 500 pace car Corvettes. A live concert will take place throughout the duration of the Corvette Show, on the County’s mobile stage. Columbus Circle will take the stage at 11:00am, followed by an Elvis tribute by Lamar Peters at 2:00pm.
On Sunday, September 25th County Executive Mangano presents Nassau County’s 7th Annual Parade and Car Show. The seven-mile parade will begin at 9:00 a.m. at Briarcliffe College. Immediately following the parade, the car show will open at Eisenhower Park, Parking Field 6 and 6A from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. featuring more than 2,000 automobiles, trucks, military vehicles, and emergency service vehicles on display. Live music, featuring Our Generation, food and entertainment will be provided for the entire family. Many of Long Island’s race, performance and restoration shops will be in attendance.
A new addition to this year’s event is the 10-foot-tall Hollywood Robot. At its first and possibly only appearance on Long Island, the unmanned ten-foot tall computer-controlled robot will interact with spectators, be available for pictures and perform live shows throughout the weekend. Also new for this year’s show, in honor of the late, great Mr. George Barris, a new Annual Award entitled the Barris Cup will be dedicated to an influential individual who emulates the amazing characteristics of Mr. Barris himself. The award will be presented by George Barris' sister Cassandra Salapatas-Met; Mr. Tony Wood, longtime friend and handler of George Barris for over 25 years; and Andy Perillo, George's east coast representative from Autoseum who had worked with George for over 50 years.
