Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano joined with Hempstead Town Councilman Edward Ambrosino and James R. Dolan, Jr., Acting Commissioner of the Nassau County Department of Human Services, on Wednesday, September 7th at the Theodore Roosevelt Executive and Legislative Building in Mineola, to honor the Suicide Prevention Coalition of Long Island for their important work. He presented members of the coalition with a proclamation, declaring September 10th as Suicide Prevention Day in Nassau County.
“I’d like to thank the members of the Suicide Prevention Coalition of Long Island for joining us here as we proclaim September 10th Suicide Prevention Day here in Nassau County,” said County Executive Mangano. “Suicide claims the lives of 36,000 Americans each year, which is one person every 40 seconds. The vital work that this coalition does, through suicide prevention training, education and information resources, is immeasurable."
