Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano today announced that in recognition of Veterans Day, the Nassau County Rifle and Pistol Range will be offering free admission for veterans and active military on Friday, November 11th from 9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. the last sign in for the day will be at 3:00 p.m. Proof of service is required. Refreshments will be served.
The Nassau County Rifle and Pistol Range is the only such facility open to the public in the County. There are six ranges and 30 individual shooting points available and targets can be set from 5 yards to 30 yards. The range received an extensive renovation over the summer of 2005 that included lead removal from the ranges and the addition of a new roof and additional parking.
The Nassau County Rifle and Pistol Range is located at the Mitchel Field Athletic Complex in the “Hub” area in Uniondale, just west of the Nassau Coliseum. Operating hours are as follows: Monday – Friday: 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday: 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Last booking is one hour prior to closing.
