Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano today joined students from Stewart and Stratford Avenue Elementary Schools in Garden City to present toys to the U.S. Marine Corps for their Toys for Tots Drive at the Roosevelt Field Mall. The toy donations gathered by the students are part of an annual effort, allowing children the opportunity to give back to others who are less fortunate during the holiday season.
“Toys for Tots isn’t just about toys,” said County Executive Mangano. “It’s about sending a message of hope to less fortunate children who otherwise wouldn’t be receiving presents this holiday season. I urge residents, who can, to donate new un-wrapped toys to any of our County drop-off locations.”
For several years County Executive Mangano has co-chaired the Toys for Tots Drive with Major Chuck Kilbride and the U.S. Marines. Maj. Kilbride has coordinated the Toys for Tots Drive for over 20 years, and County Executive Mangano thanked him for his efforts.
Residents can donate a new, un-wrapped toy, now through Monday, December 19th at any County office building, as well as at the Roosevelt Field Mall. For more information, or to find the drop-off location closest to you, call 516-571-6000.
