Mangano: Apply Now For 1,300 Employment Opportunities At The Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum

Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano today announced that the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum presented by New York Community Bank is beginning its search for the best candidates to fill 1,300 positions jobs in advance of the venue opening on April 5, 2017. The hiring efforts are a partnership between Nassau County, AEG Facilities, Levy Restaurants and New York State.

County Executive Mangano stated, “My administration has worked closely with civic organizations and Nassau Events Center to make certain every effort is taken to hire Nassau County residents and ensure those residing in Uniondale are afforded every opportunity to be considered for employment at the newly transformed Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. Anyone seeking a job at the Coliseum should apply today!”

Applications must be submitted online via the form at nassaucoliseum.com. Candidates for event-related positions will be interviewed at job fairs in January and training will begin in March. First consideration for positions will be given to Uniondale residents. The 1,300 new positions available include a large variety of job types, such as guest services, facility workers, bartenders, servers, concession stand workers, cooks, and box office ticket sellers. Each employee will be trained by Disney Institute which, as part of its comprehensive and customized approach to Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum presented by NYCB, will offer unique experiential services and best practice training for the new arena staff.

“We are very excited to be hiring for The New Coliseum presented by NYCB as it means the arena is nearing opening,” said Matt Felker, General Manager of The New Coliseum presented by NYCB. “The Coliseum is going to provide opportunities for Long Islanders, with jobs ranging from guest services to box office ticket sellers to cooks. We are looking forward to getting started with the process.”

AEG Facilities is assisting in the management of operations for The New Coliseum presented by NYCB, and Levy Restaurants is overseeing all food services. Both companies were hired by Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment (BSE) and together they are working with the New York State Department of Labor’s Employment and Workforce Solutions, which is providing custom recruiting and screening services. Representatives from BSE are raising awareness for these opportunities by meeting with local community groups, elected officials, and non-profits.

The New Coliseum presented by NYCB is funded by $130 million in private investment. No tax dollars are being used to construct the venue and the County will receive a minimum of 8% of gross revenue or $4 million annually. Additionally, $3.7 million in annual sales taxes from the arena will be generated.
