Mangano Calls On Public To Nominate Women Of Distinction For Women’s History Month Celebration

Special Recognition for Hurricane Sandy Relief Efforts

In recognition of Women’s History Month in March, Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano invites residents to nominate local women who have made extraordinary contributions to their community.

County Executive Mangano stated, “It is my honor to host this annual Women’s History Month Celebration which recognizes women for the work they do all year long making our County a better place to live and work.”

Nominations, explaining why a resident should be considered for recognition, must be postmarked no later than February 20th and addressed to Kim Collins, Theodore Roosevelt Executive & Legislative Building, 1550 Franklin Avenue, Mineola, NY 11501 or emailed to

County Executive Mangano and his wife, Linda, will host the Women’s History Month Celebration in mid-March at Old Bethpage Restoration Village. Gift baskets with donations from local merchants and business owners will be auctioned off and the proceeds will be donated to the Nassau Hurricane Recovery Fund (NHRF). Merchants interested in donating baskets, as well as eateries interested in donating goods for the reception, should contact Kim Collins at or by calling (516) 571-4044.

The fund was created by County Executive Mangano in 2012 to assist Nassau residents who suffered devastation from Hurricane Sandy and were ineligible for assistance from government relief programs. Donations to NHRF can be made on line at

The $10 admission fee for the Women’s History Month Celebration entitles guests to coffee, tea and a variety of baked goods from local bakeries.
