Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano honored Oceanside resident Mike D’Ambrosio for his induction into the Long Island Junior Soccer League (LIJSL) Hall of Fame, on Friday, March 3, at the Huntington Hilton. Mike has been a member of the LIJSL Board of Directors since 2008, currently serving as 2nd Vice President.
“I would like to thank Mike and the entire LI Junior Soccer Club for their years of dedication and commitment to the LI Soccer Program and the community,” said County Executive Mangano. “In addition to contributing to the Long Island Junior Soccer League community, Mike volunteers his time and efforts to supporting countless organizations within the Oceanside school district and community. Congratulations on this great honor.”
The Long Island Junior Soccer League was founded in 1966, by a group of men who hoped to promote the well-being of youth on Long Island while expanding their knowledge and appreciation of the sport of soccer. There are 1,500-2,000 teams per year with over 20,000 players. The Hall of Fame currently has less than 100 members.
