Lighting by National Grid at NYCB LIVE’s Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum
Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano, along with veterans and officials from NYCB LIVE’s Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, will unveil and dedicate a new veterans memorial at the transformed and newly reopened sports and entertainment venue this Saturday, April 8th at 10 a.m.
The physical memorial encompasses contrasting elements in constant movement. National Grid will honor the veterans with an eternal flame to be lit at the ceremony, and an ‘eternity’ pool, set within a simple, yet dramatic form, will pay tribute to United States military veterans for years to come. Veteran color guards and the 42nd Infantry Division Band will provide fitting pomp and circumstance, featuring a musical performance during the ceremony.
Local dignitaries and veteran organizations in attendance will include: American veterans from Long Island; local veteran organizations’ color guards; Bruce Ratner, Executive Chairman of Forest City Ratner Companies; Brett Yormark, CEO of Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment; Keith Rooney of National Grid; Andrew Kaplan of New York Community Bank; Frank Colon Jr., president of United Veterans Organization of Nassau County; The 42nd Infantry Division Band; UVO Military Chaplain Leonard Goldstein; FSO Louis DiLeo, Vocalist, United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Band; and WBAB Morning Show Radio Personality Roger Luce.
