Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano will host a free training, information and safety session where Nassau County firefighters, EMTs and Ambulance Corps members, as well as those whose loved ones suffer with substance abuse disorder, will learn how to safely treat or rescue people under the influence of Fentanyl or Carfentanil - the newest and most potent opioid to hit the streets in several states nationwide. The seminar will be held on Thursday, April 13th, from 6:30pm - 9:00pm at the Theodore Roosevelt Executive and Legislative Building in Mineola.
Both Fentanyl and Carfentanil can be deadly if absorbed into the skin, or accidentally inhaled. Last month, County Executive Mangano issued a Deadly Drug Alert to warn the public about Carfentanil before it causes any deaths here. Reports indicate first responders have exhibited signs of distress after providing first aid to Carfentanil overdose victims.
