Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano officially installed the Nassau County Fire Commission’s new Chairman, John Fabian, at their annual meeting on Wednesday, May 10th at the Bellmore Fire Department Headquarters. County Executive Mangano also swore in Vice Chairman John Hennig and Secretary Tony Pluto. He also thanked Outgoing Chairman Dennis Collins for his years of dedicated service to Nassau’s residents.
“I’m honored to swear in the new members of the Nassau County Fire Commission,” said County Executive Mangano. “Congratulations to all of the incoming officers. You have truly distinguished yourselves and I look forward to working with each of you.”
Incoming Chairman John Fabian has been a member of the Merrick Fire Department Friendship Engine & Hose Co. since 1974, rising to the ranks of Company Line Officer, Captain, and even Chief of the Department. He also served on the Company’s Board of Directors for 33 years, and has been its Chairman for the last 15 years. He has been a Nassau County Fire Commissioner since 2014, serving as a Secretary from 2015-2016, and as a Vice Chairman from 2016-2017.
