Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano was joined by Nassau County Legislator Laura Schaefer, along with Gold Star and Blue Star families for a ceremony at the Veterans Memorial in Eisenhower Park on Saturday, June 3rd, to pay tribute to the men and women from New York State who lost their lives in defense of the United States. The event included the reading of the names of these fallen heroes, as well as the ceremonial folding of the flag and a 21-gun salute.
“Nassau County is proud to join with Gold Star mothers, fathers, and families for this name reading ceremony, which is an important tribute to all of New York State’s fallen heroes and veterans who answered the call to defend our freedoms,” said County Executive Mangano. “We owe a deep debt of gratitude to all of our veterans and their families who shouldered those same burdens, days or decades ago, and thank them for the America we cherish today.”
