NICOLELLO APPROVES INSPECTOR GENERAL;
ADDING ANOTHER LEVEL OF TRANSPARENCY TO GOVERNMENT
Nassau County Presiding Officer Richard J. Nicolello and members of the Legislature unanimously approved the nomination as Jodi Franzese to the position of Inspector General for Nassau County. Ms. Franzese brings a wealth of experience to the job, as she is a senior inspector general in the New York City Department of Investigation, and previously served as a Suffolk County Assistant District Attorney.
“We believe we Ms. Franzese is very qualified to be the Inspector General for Nassau County,” said Presiding Officer Nicolello. “Having someone with her wealth of experience in that position will be a tremendous asset, and can allow Nassau residents to have confidence in that office.”
The Inspector General is an independent office with subpoena power that will oversee many aspects of Nassau County government and operations. Primarily, the office is expected to review and investigate contracts between Nassau County and its vendors to ensure integrity in the contract procurement process. The appointment of Ms. Franzese creates yet another layer of transparency in county government.
