[ARCHIVED] COUNTY EXECUTIVE LAURA CURRAN JOINS BRIAN LEHRER SHOW TO DISCUSS RELOCATION OF ICE FROM COUNTY JAIL

Mineola, NY – Nassau County Executive Laura Curran today joined The Brian Lehrer show to discuss her recent decision to relocate Immigrations and Customs Enforcement  (ICE) from the Nassau County Correctional Center. The interview link is available here.

The County Executive added the following statement:

“We just hit a record low crime rate in Nassau County thanks to a community policing effort that has prioritized strong relationships and earned trust with crime-affected communities. This has provided us vital information and intelligence that has enhanced our law enforcement’s ability to catch violent criminals.

Nassau County is the safest large county in New York because our law enforcement is focused on crimes committed and the safety of our residents - not immigration status.

Nassau County will continue to follow the law regardless of politics and will continue to work with all our federal law enforcement partners, including ICE, to crack down on gang violence and other crime.”
