(MINEOLA, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislator Ellen W. Birnbaum (D - Great Neck) has been named to serve on County Executive Laura Curran’s Blue-Ribbon Panel to Streamline Development Approvals, which will be tasked with streamlining permit applications and approvals for construction projects that front a Nassau County road.
The panel will be specifically tasked with providing recommendations on improving the Department of Public Works’ (DPW) “239-F” permit and approval process so that applications are completed and processed more expeditiously.“When applications become mired in paperwork and bureaucracy, businesses suffer and good investments in our communities can go unrealized,” Legislator Birnbaum said. “By streamlining the permit process, we can make Nassau County a more attractive destination for commerce and a friendlier place for small businesses to set up shop. I am pleased County Executive Curran has named me to this panel, and I will do my part to ensure meaningful reforms are implemented.” The panel will be co-chaired by Kenneth Arnold, the Commissioner of Nassau County’s Department of Public Works, and Kyle Strober, Executive Director of the Association for a Better Long Island. Legislator Birnbaum will serve on a panel including a group of technical advisers and key stakeholders from the worlds of business, building, labor, law and engineering.
