Legislator Debra Mulé Honors Dr. Shari Camhi During

21st Annual Women’s History Trailblazer Awards Ceremony

(MINEOLA, NY) Nassau County Legislator Debra Mulé (D - Freeport) had the privilege of honoring Dr. Shari Camhi, Superintendent of the Baldwin Union-Free School District, during Nassau County’s 21st annual Women’s History Month Trailblazers award ceremony on Monday, March 25.

From Kindergarten to grade 12, Dr. Camhi has encouraged students to be creative, inventive, and dedicated to their education to ensure they have a bright future. She has worked with her teaching and administrative staff to redesign classrooms to foster entrepreneurial thinking and developed collaborative and inquiry-based "Innovatrium” classrooms in each school building.

Dr. Camhi is a member of the Governing Board of AASA, The National Superintendent’s Association a member of the American Association of Community College’s Commission for College Readiness and the Chair of the Educational Telecommunications Service Committee of public television station WLIW. She is also an active participant in the Long Island Consortium for Excellence and Equity (LICEE), which advocates practices that inspire equity for all learners.

In 2015, Dr. Camhi was named a “New Superintendent to Watch” by the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA) for their efforts to promote learning through technology and communication. Last year, Dr. Camhi was also named “Administrators to Watch” by Education Dive Media for her commitment to education and forward thinking.

“Dr. Camhi’s dedication and commitment to the students in the Baldwin School District is an example of inspirational leadership that sets our students on a path to a brighter future,” Legislator Mulé said. “It is my continued privilege to witness her in action and my pleasure to recognize her as a Trailblazer during Women’s History Month.”
