Legislator Arnold Drucker Honors Dr. Uzma Syed During
21st Annual Women’s History Trailblazer Awards Ceremony
(MINEOLA, NY) - Nassau County Legislator Arnold W. Drucker (D - Plainview) had the privilege of honoring physician and infectious diseases specialist Dr. Uzma Syed during Nassau County’s 21st annual Women’s History Month Trailblazers award ceremony on Monday, March 25th.
In addition to operating her own medical practice, Dr. Syed, a Syosset resident, established a non-profit organization called Align US, which focuses on fostering career development opportunities for high school students by bridging the gap between classroom and real-world experiences. Through mentorship programs like these, Dr. Syed hopes to groom the next generation of youth in our communities for success.
In 2018, Dr. Syed participated in a Harvard University business roundtable with United Nations ambassadors to discuss strategy to provide mobile healthcare to the underserved world. Closer to home, Dr. Syed stays engaged with the community via soup kitchens, toy drives, and holiday meals, and is active in the Syosset PTA, the Interfaith Council and the Police Commissioner’s Community Council.
“Whether by practicing medicine, mentoring our youth or sharing scholarly knowledge in her field, Dr. Syed touches the lives of her neighbors and makes Nassau County a better place to live. Her passion for community-building is palpable and her positive impact is undeniable,” Legislator Drucker said. “That is why it is my privilege to recognize Dr. Uzma Syed during Women’s History Month at the Nassau County Legislature.”
