“ASSESSMENT BILL OF RIGHTS”
Today, Legislator Steve Rhoads and the Republican Majority Caucus of the Nassau County Legislature held a press conference on the front steps of the Theodore Roosevelt Executive and Legislative Building in Mineola to announce their "Assessment Bill of Rights". The Bill of Rights is a comprehensive package of bills aimed at providing protections for taxpayers in the assessment process.
This package of legislation, which will come before the legislature later this summer will help restore residents’ trust, after enduring the County Executive’s error riddled assessment process.
"For nearly a year, the Curran Administration has ignored taxpayers who are confused and frustrated by her error riddled reassessment process,” Legislator Steve Rhoads said. “Earlier today I introduced the Nassau County ‘Assessment Bill of Rights’ that will force the Curran Administration's assessment process to be more open and transparent. I look forward to seeing bipartisan support for these reforms that will work to restore trust and integrity. Nassau taxpayers deserve nothing less.”
This package of bills will include:
