(MANHASSET, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislator Ellen W. Birnbaum (D - Great Neck) joined with colleagues in government on Oct. 31st for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the official re-opening of the Sixth Nassau County Police Precinct in Manhasset. The Sixth Precinct was among those shut down in 2012 by the Mangano Administration under a consolidation plan.

Legislator Birnbaum was joined by County Executive Laura Curran, Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder, State Senator Anna Kaplan, Assemblyman Anthony D’Urso, County Legislature Presiding Officer Richard Nicolello, Town of North Hempstead Supervisor Judi Bosworth, Jerry Laricchiuta, President of Nassau’s Civil Service Employees Association CSEA Local, James McDermott, President of the Nassau Police Benevolent Association, and Superior Officers Association 1st Vice President Edward Perkins.

“I am delighted to celebrate the grand reopening of the fully refurbished Sixth Precinct with our community. Today’s celebration reflects a renewed commitment to a responsive community policing model that enhances our quality of life and our ongoing dedication to the police who work to keep us safe each and every day. I thank County Executive Curran and Commissioner Patrick Ryder for heeding our concerns and all the community leaders who joined me over the years in advocating for this precinct’s return to its home,” said Legislator Ellen Birnbaum.
