Legislators Lafazan & DeRiggi-Whitton, Lifeguard LI Host CPR/First Aid Training at Bryant Library

Lafazan and DeRiggi Whitton - CPR training

(ROSLYN, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislators Joshua A. Lafazan (Woodbury) and Delia DeRiggi-Whitton (D - Glen Cove) partnered with Lifeguard LI to host a CPR and First Aid training session at Roslyn’s Bryant Library on Tuesday, Jan. 21.

Lifeguard LI owner and Glen Cove Police Department Det. Steve Grella, pictured above, right, presented the evening’s course, during which 29 residents learned how to perform CPR and gained other lifesaving skills. Nine of those trainees paid an additional $30 to begin the process of becoming American Red Cross-certified in CPR.

Legislators Lafazan and DeRiggi-Whitton are slated to host another CPR training session with Lifeguard LI at the Bryant Library starting at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 18.

“Preparedness is a critically important element of an effective emergency response, and the skills these residents gained will allow them to spring into action when it matters the most,” Legislator Lafazan said. “I am delighted that this session was so well received and I’m looking forward to working with Legislator DeRiggi-Whitton and Lifeguard LI to host another session in February.”

“The strong interest in this CPR training event is just another beautiful example of the generous, caring spirit that fuels our shared passion for all forms of community service,” Legislator DeRiggi-Whitton said. “It’s always a pleasure to work with Legislator Lafazan to bring these events to our residents, and we are both grateful to Steve Grella for leading this possibly life-saving session.”
