(FREEPORT, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislator Debra Mulé (D - Freeport) joined the Freeport community for its 12th annual Peace March on Saturday, May 1. Legislator Mule joined yellow-clad participants in a march from Freeport High School east on Pine Street to Bayview Avenue; south to Merrick Road; west to Brookside Avenue and north on Brookside back to the high school. The tradition, which is spearheaded by Freeport Cares - a collaborative partnership between the schools, village and numerous community-based organizations, resumed in person this year after a one-year hiatus during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“It's important to recognize the need for peace in not only our community but the world, and Saturday was a perfect day for our community to come together safely and embrace this calling,” Legislator Mulé said. “I thank everyone who added their voices in support of a brighter, more harmonious future.”
