Curran, Mulé, and Office of Asian American Affairs Present ‘Connecting Communities'

WHAT - In commemoration of May as Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month,  Nassau County Legislator Debra Mulé (D - Freeport) is partnering with Nassau County Executive Laura Curran and Farrah Mozawalla, Executive Director of the County’s Office of Asian-American Affairs, to present “Connecting Communities - A Celebration of Asian and Pacific Islanders Month” on Tuesday, May 25.

Featured speakers include Shashi Malik from the Indian Association of Long Island; Saalim Ahmed from Masjid Al-Rasheed; Dr. Gordon Zhang from the Long Island Chinese American Association; and Fahad Qamer from Jaame’e Masjid.

“As we continue to celebrate accomplishments and contributions made by Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, we do so at a time when the AAPI community has endured an unconscionable increase in senseless hatred and violence,” Legislator Mulé said. “Through this partnership with OAA and County Executive Curran, we hope to connect residents with insights from local leaders in Nassau’s AAPI and share knowledge about important organizations that are making a positive difference each and every day in our community.”
