WHAT: Nassau County Legislators Kevan M. Abrahams (D - Freeport) and Debra Mulé (D - Freeport) are partnering with the Freeport-based Cedarmore Corporation to host their annual seasonal Farmers’ Market at the Baldwin LIRR station. The market is scheduled to operate from 11:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. every Saturday (weather permitting) through Oct. 30, 2021.
Local youth are hired each year to operate the market, which features an array of local produce for purchase, including specialties like farm-fresh eggs, corn, greens, lettuce, tomatoes, organic honey, and more. Most produce is picked fresh that morning.
“After adapting last summer to meet the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are delighted to once again offer the full farmers’ market experience that patrons look forward to each weekend,” Legislator Abrahams said.
“We hope you’ll take advantage of this great opportunity to support Long Island farming and buy some of the freshest produce you can find locally!” Legislator Mulé added.
This year’s market is presented in partnership with the New York State FreshConnect Program; Sanitary District No. 2; Nassau County’s Department of Human Services, Office of Youth Services; and the HempsteadWorks Career Center, with special thanks to Town of Hempstead Senior Councilwoman Dorothy Goosby and Town of Hempstead Councilman Christopher Carini for their support.
Patrons can shop online at www.CedarmoreFarms.org and can get more information about the market by calling 516-378-3415 or texting FarmFresh to 474747. In addition to cash and credit card payments, the market accepts Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP WIC) checks and Senior FMNP vouchers, which are distributed by the Nassau County Office for The Aging.
