(FREEPORT, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislator Debra Mulé (D - Freeport) recently welcomed the Nautical Mile’s Halfway Down restaurant to the Freeport Chamber of Commerce. During her Thursday, Oct. 28 visit, Legislator Mulé presented a Nassau County Legislature Citation to co-owner Hugh Carroll, who operates the establishment with co-owners Kevin Calhoun, Tom Schule and Richard Duffy.
Amidst the most challenging days of the COVID-19 pandemic in the spring of 2020, the restaurant and its owners spearheaded an initiative that resulted in thousands of meals being delivered to feed first responders and hospital workers on the front lines of the pandemic response.
“Halfway Down is well known for their steadfast commitment to serving the Freeport community and supporting the people who did so much to get us through the COVID-19 pandemic,” Legislator Mule said. “It was a pleasure to welcome them to the Freeport Chamber of Commerce and I wish them all the best in the days ahead!”
