Film Industry Re-Opening
Nassau County is currently in Phase 4 of reopening, and the current film guidelines can be found here: https://www.governor.ny.gov/sites/governor.ny.gov/files/atoms/files/MediaProductionShortGuidance.pdf
Welcome to the Nassau County Film Commission. Whether you’re an indie filmmaker, an established studio, or a student just beginning to hone your craft, there’s a reason filmmakers love coming to Nassau County. With our close proximity to New York City, falling within the “NYC Film Zone”, Nassau County has something to offer for every type of location need from our historic mansions on the north shore to our world class beaches and parks. In addition to an array of downtown restaurants, bars and film friendly working-class neighborhoods, Nassau County is also home to two fully approved NYS Sound Stages - Gold Coast Studios and Grumman Studios- with a third studio in Port Washington on the way.
Our job at the Nassau County Film Commission is to assist you in all your production needs while helping you navigate between the different cities, towns and villages that comprise our County. Our goal is to be a resource to connect your production with the best locations, vendors and professionals, to make your project a success.
Not only do we help guide a production through the permitting process, but we also do our best to foster a culture that promotes the arts and artists who make Long Island a wonderful place to live, work and play. We regularly partner with the Long Island Film and TV Foundation by presenting the LIIFE (The Long Island International Film Expo) as well as promoting the Long Beach International Film Festival, Gold Coast Film Festival and the Point Lookout Festival.
Outside of NYC, Nassau County is the biggest economic generator in New York State when it comes to film and television production. According to the New York State Empire Development report, Long Island generated $896 million in spend in 2019. So please, take a look and see what we have to offer you and your production!
