Thanks to strong opposition by residents, elected officials and community leaders, we were successful in defeating Governor Hochul’s high density housing plan in this year’s state budget. This is the second year in a row the governor’s budget sought to dramatically increase and forever alter Long Island’s housing landscape. Based on recent comments by the governor and state legislative leaders, they still intend to pursue a housing proposal that will threaten our suburban quality of life and erode local zoning control.
