[ARCHIVED] Holiday Food Drive for The NEST at Nassau Community College Extended Through Dec. 18

WHAT –Nassau County Legislator Debra Mulé (D – Freeport) is extending her office’s Thanksgiving food drive in partnership with the Baldwin and Roosevelt Public Libraries and the South Hempstead Volunteer Fire Department. Community members will now have until Wednesday, Dec. 18 to donate in support of The NEST at Nassau Community College.

Donors are invited to contribute canned goods, fruits and vegetables, dry goods and other non-perishable nutritional staples during normal business hours at the Baldwin Public Library, 2385 Grand Ave., Baldwin, N.Y. 11510; Roosevelt Public Library, 27 W. Fulton Ave., Roosevelt, N.Y. 11575; or the South Hempstead Volunteer Fire Department, 555 May St., South Hempstead, N.Y. 11550.

Short for “Nassau: Empowerment and Support for Tomorrow,” NEST is a 501 (c)3 not-for-profit organization focused on promoting health and wellness by maintaining a free-choice food pantry that provides food, personal care items, and support services to students, employees, and families in need. Their philanthropic efforts are supported by the College community, Long Island Cares and Island Harvest, corporate donors, civic and religious organizations, and more.

“Generosity is a hallmark of the spirit of the holiday season, and it made perfect sense to extend the food drive beyond Thanksgiving and into December,” Legislator Mulé said. “I appreciate our partners at the Baldwin and Roosevelt Libraries and the South Hempstead Fire Department for being so willing to join us in this ongoing effort!”
