Mule and Koslow - Universal School Meals

(WESTBURY, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislature Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Debra Mulé (D – Freeport) and Legislator Seth I. Koslow (D – Merrick) joined Governor Kathy Hochul and a bipartisan contingent of their colleagues in government at Westbury Middle School on Friday, Jan. 10, where Governor Hochul announced her proposal to include funding for universal school breakfast and lunch in her forthcoming budget proposal.

“As a social worker and former Freeport School Board trustee, I am committed to ending food insecurity in our society, and I know firsthand how vital nutrition is in the success of our students,” Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Mulé said. “This proposal will both combat hunger and save hardworking families money, and I fully support its inclusion in the state budget.”

“Universal breakfast and lunch for our students is a giant step toward ensuring that no child in New York goes hungry,” Legislator Koslow said. “Proper nutrition is vital for a student’s health, focus and overall success, and I applaud Governor Hochul for supporting a plan that will benefit children and families in Nassau County and all across our state.”
