(FREEPORT, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislature Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Debra Mulé (D - Freeport), Legislator Seth I. Koslow (D – Merrick) and New York State Assemblymember Judy Griffin joined forces with the South Shore Conservation Society, The Green Army, Pride on the Mile and the Freeport Rotary Club to host a community clean-up at Freeport’s Brookside Preserve on Saturday, May 3.
After being delayed a week by inclement weather, dozens of volunteers took advantage of a better forecast this past Saturday to clear away debris and enhance the ecological health of the Nassau County-preserved wetlands. Dozens of bags of refuse were cleared away and the satisfaction of a job well done for the benefit of one of Nassau’s great environmental treasures.
“Brookside Preserve is a gem of the Freeport community, and it was wonderful to see so many people roll up their sleeves and put in the work to keep it clean and beautiful,” Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Mulé said. “Thank you to José Cuevas and all of our partners for joining us as we continued this cherished local tradition!”
“Preserving environmental assets like Brookside Preserve is essential if we are to protect our planet for the future of our children and our grandchildren,” Legislator Koslow said. “It is always a pleasure to support such an important initiative in our community and I thank everyone who rolled up their sleeves to make a positive impact.”
