[ARCHIVED] Legislator Jacobs Attends ‘Relay For Life’ Event at Plainview-Old Bethpage High School

Legislator Jacobs Attends Relay For Life Event at Plainview-Old Bethpage High School

RELAY FOR LIFE was held at the Plainview-Old Bethpage High School on Saturday, the 6th of June, from 5 PM to 12 midnight. This wonderful event is held in more than 5,200 communities in 20 countries around the world. The power in the very special event is bringing awareness to the community about cancer. Survivors are honored, care givers are honored, and lost loved ones are remembered. It is always held at a school, a park or a fairground, and it is made up of teams devoted to making people aware of the profound effect cancer has on individuals, families and friends. Most importantly, there was a call for people to become "upstanders" rather than "bystanders" in the fight against cancer. Jacobs said, “I was so pleased to stop up, make a donation, and thank the organizers in person. Relay For Life has become a regular event in communities all over Nassau County, and I am extremely proud of the residents of Plainview-Old Bethpage for continuing that tradition.”
