[ARCHIVED] Uniondale Man Indicted for Drug and Gun Sales

Raymond Lopez allegedly sold a .38 Caliber revolver and ammunition

MINEOLA, N.Y. – Acting Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas announced that a Uniondale man, arrested in July as part of an illegal narcotics and gun sales investigation involving federal agencies, was indicted by a Nassau County grand jury.

Raymond Lopez, 20, of Uniondale, was arraigned before Supreme Court Justice Angelo Delligatti on charges of:
• Two counts of Criminal Sale of Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree (a B felony)
• Two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree (a B felony)
• Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree (a C violent felony)
• Criminal Sale of a Firearm in the 3rd Degree (a D violent felony)

The defendant was held on bail of $200,000 cash or bond. He is due back in court on Dec. 14.
“Illegal guns and drugs are far too common and we must use every tool at our disposal to remove them from our communities,” Acting DA Singas said. “Working together with our federal and local partners, we were able to take dangerous defendants off the streets and help make our County a safer place.”

Acting DA Singas said that on Dec. 4, 2014, the defendant sold approximately 15 oxycodone pills for $320. Lopez sold another 24 oxycodone pills on Jan. 21 for $440. The defendant allegedly sold a .38 caliber revolver and ammunition for the weapon for $500 on Feb. 11.

Lopez, who was arrested by the Nassau County Special Investigation Squad, and other defendants were arrested between July 7 and July 8 as part of an ongoing investigation into violence, illegal narcotics and gun sales in the Hempstead and Uniondale areas. The investigation is part of a collaboration between the NCPD, Hempstead Police Department, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, the United States Attorney of the Eastern District and the Nassau County District Attorney’s office.

Assistant District Attorney Lee Genser of Acting DA Singas’ Street Narcotics and Gangs Bureau is prosecuting the case. Lopez is represented by Greg Madey, Esq.

The charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless found guilty.
