[ARCHIVED] DA Singas Holds Inaugural Criminal Justice Conference

Inaugural Criminal Justice Conference

MINEOLA, N.Y. – Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas hosted the office’s first ever conference on criminal justice issues and legislation today.

The Nassau County DA’s Criminal Justice Conference, held at Hofstra University’s Guthart Cultural Center Theater in Hempstead, featured presentations by NCDA Bureau Chiefs and Assistant DAs on the following topics:

• The Heroin Crisis
• Dogfighting
• “How Nassau Raises the Age” for Adolescent Defendants
• Drugged Driving
• Human Trafficking
• Financial Crimes & Public Corruption

In attendance at the conference were State and County legislators, law enforcement professionals, victim advocates and other criminal justice stakeholders.

“I think it’s very important for us as criminal justice stakeholders to have an ongoing conversation about issues that affect our communities,” DA Singas said at the conference. “And it’s especially important for our legislators and elected officials to be here as well because we have such a wealth of information that we need to share, and we have things that we do where we need your help, your input and your advice, and everyone in this room has something to offer.”

The program was approved in accordance with the requirements of the New York State Continuing Legal Education Board, and, as such, members of the New York State Bar were eligible to receive three professional practice credit hours for attending.
