[ARCHIVED] Curran, Ryder Swear in Nassau County Police Academy Graduates

Police Academy Graduation

Mineola, NY – Nassau County Executive Laura Curran and Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder presented certificates of completion to 81 police academy graduates on Wednesday, June 27th at a graduation ceremony held at Chaminade High School in Mineola.

“Nassau County has the lowest crime rate of any large suburban county in the country thanks to the dedicated law enforcement officers of the Nassau Police Department,” said Curran. “Today you join a much-heralded department known for its expertise, professionalism, and intelligence-led policing measures. As County Executive, it gives me great pleasure to congratulate you on a successful academy and welcome you to the force.”

Commissioner Patrick Ryder spoke to the graduates about their responsibilities as law enforcement officers.

"You're the face of this department," he said. "When you took your oath seven months ago, you pledged your loyalty to the citizens of Nassau County to protect and serve."
