[ARCHIVED] CURRAN ATTENDS BREAST CANCER SUMMIT

Mineola, NY—Nassau County Executive Laura Curran joined Nassau County Commissioner of Health Dr. Lawrence Eisenstein at the 2018 Breast Cancer Summit hosted by Long Island Plastic Surgical Group, PC. In 2018, an estimated 266,120 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to be diagnosed in women in the U.S., along with 63,960 new cases of non-invasive (in situ) breast cancer.  (aka: Carcinoma in Situ- CIS). Until we have a cure, our best weapon is still regular screening, early detection and timely treatment.

On October 17th at 6:00 p.m. Nassau County will host a Breast Cancer Awareness Month ceremony to illuminate in pink, the dome of the Theodore Roosevelt Executive and Legislative Building to commemorate women and men who have been impacted by breast cancer and those who have lost their lives. The light will represent a glow of hope – that we can fight the disease and the best prevention is screening and early detection
