[ARCHIVED] County Executive Curran Orders Nassau County Flags To Half-Staff In Honor of Fallen Officer

Mineola, NY – Nassau County Executive Laura Curran today issued a directive to all County buildings and employees to lower flags to half-staff in honor and memory of NYPD Detective Brian Simonsen, who made the ultimate sacrifice while responding to a robbery earlier this week in Richmond Hill. Flags will remain at half-staff from Thursday, February 14th until interment on Wednesday, February 20th.

“Our hearts are heavy from the loss of Detective Simonsen, and our prayers go out to his family,” said County Executive Curran. “This tragedy is yet another reminder of the danger every police officer confronts daily in order to keep us all safe. We must never forget the sacrifices the men and women in uniform make for us all.”
