WHAT: Nassau County Legislator Joshua Lafazan (Woodbury) will host a presentation of “Eight,” a film by author Steve Mason at the Syosset Public Library. “Eight” is a dramatic film based on the true story of the death of Mason’s father, a Long Island police officer, by suicide. Following the screening, Mason will discuss the aftermath of this trauma, his subsequent struggle with depression and drug addiction and his journey to recovery and healing.
The goal of the screening and Mason’s presentation is to raise mental health and substance abuse awareness in the community and create a platform for facilitating candid discussions of these critical issues.
