HEMPSTEAD, NY - Nassau County Executive Laura Curran announced Monday a new push encouraging all residents who meet new, expanded diagnostic testing criteria to take advantage of the County’s COVID-19 testing sites in Elmont, Freeport, Hempstead, and Westbury.

Nassau County residents now eligible for diagnostic testing include:

  • Any individual who has COVID-19 symptoms;
  • Any individual who has had contact with a person known to be positive with COVID-19; Any individual who is subject to a precautionary or mandatory quarantine;
  • Any individual who is employed as a health care worker, nursing home worker or first responder;
  • Any essential worker who directly interacts with the public while working; and any individual who would return to the workplace in phase one of the state’s reopening plan.

County Executive Curran today released a Public Service Announcement highlighting COVID-19 testing made available by the County, emphasizing that Nassau has made the testing process as easy as possible. All four County sites are accessible by the Nassau Inter-County Express (NICE) Bus, which is currently running free of charge. All services are provided without regard to insurance or immigration status.

That’s why we’re encouraging residents to take advantage of testing sites we’ve strategically located in Nassau’s hardest hit communities. Getting tested is quick, convenient, and free,” said Nassau County Executive Laura Curran.
