Nassau County, NY – With temperatures expected to be in the 80s today and tomorrow and with countless residents without power and air conditioning, Nassau is opening three cooling centers for anyone who needs a break from the heat. We will be following the State’s guidelines for cooling center to prevent spread of COVID-19. Anyone who arrives without a mask will be provided one.

Cooling center locations that will be open today and tomorrow include:

  • Cantiague Park - 480 W John St, Hicksville, NY
  • Open 12pm - 6pm
  • Hockey Rink

  • Wantagh Administration Building - 1 King Rd, Wantagh, NY
  • Open 12pm - 6pm
  • Community Room

  • North Woodmere Park - 750 Hungry Harbor Rd, Valley Stream, NY
  • Open 12pm -6pm
  • Community Room

I urge residents to use precautions when visiting County parks over the next couple of days as our parks staff is working diligently to clean up downed trees, branches and other debris from Tropical Storm Isaias. Nickerson Beach is open. All County pools and golf courses are closed, but Driving ranges at Eisenhower and Cantiague are open.
