[ARCHIVED] Drucker Invites Students to Participate in Second Annual Judy Jacobs Essay Award Contest

(MINEOLA, N.Y.) - In honor of Women’s History Month and the legacy of the late Nassau County Legislator and former Presiding Officer Judy Jacobs, Nassau County Legislator Arnold W. Drucker (D - Plainview) is proud to announce the second annual Judy Jacobs Essay Contest for LD 16’s fifth- through eighth-grade students.

Students will be tasked with addressing the topic of “Justice, Justice You Shall Pursue.” As part of their response, students will describe how either the late U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and/or current U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris has inspired them to pursue justice, and to highlight a woman in their daily lives who is a source of inspiration.

“Judy Jacobs was a phenomenal presence who radiated love and light, courage and conviction in everything she did. Most of all, she was a tireless advocate for the well-being of Nassau County’s children and young adults,” Legislator Drucker said. “Through this year’s essay contest, we hope to honor Judy’s legacy by creating this forum for reflecting upon transformative American leaders who broke the glass ceiling and celebrating outstanding women who make a difference each day in the lives of young people across the 16th Legislative District.”

The deadline for submissions is Tuesday, March 23. Contest winners will be announced during a virtual award ceremony on Monday, March 29.
