Mineola, NY- Nassau County Comptroller George Maragos announced the Nassau County Living Wage rate will increase from $15.50 to $15.54 per hour on August 1, 2015. The Living Wage Law applies to all County employees and businesses contracting with the County (contracts over $25,000). Enacted in January 2006, the Law ensures that employees earn a decent hourly wage including health benefits. The Living Wage Law went into effect in 2007 with hourly wage increased each August 1st.
“Nassau County is leading the nation with its Living Wage increase to $15.54 an hour for employees and county contractors,” said Comptroller George Maragos. The Comptroller’s Office will be distributing posters in English, Spanish, and Creole to all County agencies and service providers to remind them about the August 1 wage increase.
