(MINEOLA, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislator Ellen W. Birnbaum (D – Great Neck) recently welcomed members of Boy Scouts Pack 201 and Girl Scouts Troop 1511 to the Theodore Roosevelt Executive & Legislative Building for an educational tour of the seat of Nassau County government.
The tour included a stop at the County Executive’s ceremonial chamber, discussions of history utilizing paintings and exhibits in the building, a PowerPoint presentation about the history of Nassau County government in the Peter J. Schmitt Memorial Legislative Chamber and a visit to Legislator Birnbaum’s office.
“Through scouting organizations, young people gain valuable skills and learn important lessons about life and their civic duty,” Legislator Birnbaum said. “I hope that I was able to stimulate their interest in government during their recent visit to the Nassau County Legislature.”
