[ARCHIVED] LEGISLATOR STEVE RHOADS ANNOUNCES BELLMORE-MERRICK DRUG TAKE-BACK DAY

RX

SATURDAY, MAY 13, 2017 – 10:00 AM TO 1:00 PM

Grand Avenue Middle School – 2301 Grand Ave., Bellmore

Legislator Steve Rhoads is joining together with the Bellmore-Merrick CHSD, Community Parent Center, the Nassau County Police Department, Community Action for Social Justice and the Bellmore, North Bellmore, Merrick and North Merrick Elementary School districts to combat abuse and misuse of prescription medications by offering residents to safely dispose of unwanted and expired medications at the Bellmore-Merrick Drug Take-Back Day Event on Saturday, May 13th.

The drug take back program provides a safe, convenient, and responsible way to dispose of prescription drugs, while also educating the community about the potential for abuse of medications.  Additionally, the event helps the environment by discouraging people from using the typical disposal method, flushing unused pills or dumping them in the solid waste stream. This keeps them out of the drinking water system and landfills.

We hope you will join us to fight Prescription Drug Abuse and Misuse.  Let’s work together to combat this issue. The more educated we become, the better we can protect our children.

BELLMORE-MERRICK DRUG DROP INSTRUCTIONS:

  • Keep all medications in the original container
  • Block out name on container for anonymity
  • Do not cross out medication information
  • Illegal drugs may also be dropped off anonymously
  • Syringes and sharps will be accepted
  • No thermometers, IV bags, chemo drugs or liquids of any kind will be accepted.
