Legislators Lafazan and Drucker Thank Community Partners for Supporting ‘Fighting Hunger During COVID-19” Food Drive

The Friday, May 1 drive yielded donations of essential supplies for Island Harvest.

(WOODBURY, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislators Joshua Lafazan (Woodbury) and Arnold W. Drucker (D – Plainview) partnered with the Syosset-Woodbury Interfaith Clergy Council, Town of Oyster Bay Councilwoman Vicki Walsh and Boy Scout Troop 170 to host the “Fighting Hunger During COVID-19” food drive at the Woodbury Jewish Center on Friday, May 1, filling a box truck with donations of food and other essential supplies for Island Harvest in the process. Officers from the Nassau County Police Department’s Second Precinct provided additional assistance during the drive.

“This successful food drive beautifully illustrates how our neighbors continue to call upon a spirit of compassion and generosity to support each other during the COVID-19 pandemic,” Legislator Drucker said. “I applaud Legislator Lafazan for spearheading this latest effort and thank our partners in government, law enforcement and the clergy for their support.”

“Such a tremendous display of generosity reaffirms my belief in the comforting truth that our community is at its best when it stands together to respond to unprecedented challenges,” Legislator Lafazan said. “I am deeply thankful for the efforts of this diverse coalition of leaders and their dedication to supporting to support those who need us most in our community.”
