[ARCHIVED] Legislator Lafazan, Bayville FD Announce Urgent Blood Drive

(BAYVILLE, N.Y.) - Roll up your sleeves and help save lives on Monday, July 13, 2020 with Nassau County Legislator Joshua Lafazan (Woodbury) and the Bayville Fire Department by donating blood from 1 - 7 p.m. at the Bayville Fire Department, 258 Bayville Ave., Bayville.

Eligible donors must have an ID with a signature or a photo, weigh at least 110 pounds, have had no tattoos in the last 12 months and be ages 16-75 years of age (16-year-old donors must have parental consent. Donors over age 76 must bring a doctor’s note.) O-negative and B-negative donors are especially needed in addition to all other blood types.

“Our health care heroes have gone above and beyond their call of duty to help New York flatten the curve. By supporting this blood drive, you can help ensure that our health care systems have sufficient blood supplies to continue treating patients,” Legislator Lafazan said. “I’m proud to work with the Bayville Fire Department and the New York Blood Center to ensure that the gift of life is available for anybody in need.”

In compliance with COVID-19 prevention directives, donors must wear a face mask or covering; have their temperature taken before donating; and must be 14 days symptom-free if they have recovered from COVID-19. Individuals that are currently observing self-quarantine restrictions or that have tested positive for COVID-19 or experienced symptoms in the last 14 days are not eligible to donate.
