[ARCHIVED] Lafazan, Woodbury Jewish Center Commemorate National Blood Donor Month with Blood Drive

(WOODBURY, N.Y.) - Roll up your sleeves during National Blood Donor Month and help save lives on Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2021 with Nassau County Legislator Joshua Lafazan (Woodbury) the Woodbury Jewish Center and the Affinity Health Plan by donating blood from 3 - 9 p.m. at the Woodbury Jewish Center, located at 200 South Woods Road, Woodbury, N.Y. 11797.

“During National Blood Donor Month, we recognize the contributions of so many people that do their part to ensure Nassau County’s blood reserves are safe, secure and plentiful,” Legislator Lafazan said. “There’s no better way to fulfill your New Year’s resolution to give back to the community by visiting the Woodbury Jewish Center and rolling up your sleeve to give the gift of life.”

Eligible donors must have an ID with a signature or a photo, weigh at least 110 pounds, have had no tattoos in the last 12 months and be ages 16-75 years of age (16-year-old donors must have parental consent. Donors over age 76 must bring a doctor’s note.) O-negative and B-negative donors are especially needed in addition to all other blood types.

In compliance with COVID-19 prevention protocols, donors must wear a face mask or covering; have their temperature taken before donating; and must be 14 days symptom-free if they have recovered from COVID-19. Individuals that are currently observing self-quarantine restrictions or that have tested positive for COVID-19 or experienced symptoms in the last 14 days are not eligible to donate at this time.

Visit https://donate.nybc.org/donor/schedules/drive_schedule/285838 to schedule a time to donate. Appointments are recommended, and walk-ins will be taken if the drive capacity permits.
