(WOODBURY, N.Y.) – Nearly 40 residents rolled up their sleeves to give the gift of life during National Blood Donor Month at a successful blood drive at the Woodbury Jewish Center on Tuesday, Jan. 12. Nassau County Legislator Joshua Lafazan (Woodbury) hosted the drive, in partnership with the Woodbury Jewish Center. They collaborated with twin brothers Jacob and Sammy Fogel, who helped publicize and organize the drive as part of a mitzvah project through the Woodbury Jewish Center. A total of 38 units were donated, which can be used to help approximately 114 people.

“For anybody that has ‘giving back to the community’ on their list of New Year’s Resolutions, donating blood is a great place to start,” Legislator Lafazan said. “Thanks to the efforts of the Woodbury Jewish Center, our donors, and Jacob and Sammy Fogel – two young leaders whose efforts prove it’s never too early to make a difference – this was a truly successful blood drive that will have life-saving impacts.”
