(OYSTER BAY, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislator Joshua Lafazan (Woodbury) celebrated the grand reopening of Oyster Bay High School’s newly renovated cafeteria during a ribbon-cutting ceremony held on Friday, March 5.

Legislator Lafazan secured a $100,000 Community Revitalization Program (CRP) grant to finance the improvements. The funds were used to enhance the facility and purchase 43 new tables and almost 200 new chairs and benches. These items will be utilized by students and local community groups throughout the year.

“School buildings are not only classroom learning hubs - they are community centers that provide Nassau residents of all ages opportunities to get involved and become leaders,” Legislator Lafazan said. “I’m thankful to my colleagues in the Legislature and County Executive Curran for supporting a grant that equips the Oyster Bay-East Norwich School Distritct to better serve students and residents.”

“This cafeteria is a wonderful enhancement to our high school building and has amenities that make it look and feel more like a dining hall you would see on a college campus,” said Dr. Francesco Ianni, Superintendent of Schools. “Many thanks to Legislator Lafazan for his work in securing a generous grant to make our vision a reality.”
